A demonstration was conducted on 09.08.2016 at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi to protest the orders of the DoPT against the OBC candidates in UPSC Civil Service Examinations and to restore their original rank as per the merit list.
out of 1078 Civil Services posts 120 OBC candidates selection was disqualified based on a biased DoPT order.
DoPT has passed the orders arbitrarily without consulting National Commission for Backward Classes.
The candidates along with their application submitted their OBC certificates one year ago (ie 2015). They have undergone preliminary, mains and personal interviews. The DoPT has deliberately rejected their final selection in a vindictive manner and reduced their merit order resulting in change of merit order for all and disqualification for many.
DoPT has not authority to reject the OBC creamy layer certificate issued by the revenue authorities.
Even though the DoPT order (08.09.1993) clearly states that the salary and agricultural income should not be taken into consideration for creamy layer purposed, DoPT had violated its own order and thus rendered injustice to OBC's.
Though the NCBC has submitted the report regarding creamy layer and validating PSU / private sector jobs equivalent to government jobs and enhancement of income ceiling on 10.08.2015, the Central Government has failed to implement report of NSBC.
Therefore a demonstration was conducted by the OBC Confederation on 09.08.2016 under the Presidentship of Sri J Prasad (Working President) in which more than 500 activists from all over the country participated.
From Delhi Social Activists, OBC leaders from various associations, student associations, affected students, their relatives and friends all participated in the demonstration.
From Postal OBC more number was participated of them Sri D S Harikrishnan, Sri J Purushothaman and Sri M Sheik Ameer Batcha had delivered the speech condemning the action of the DoPT.
Shri Anbumathi Ramadoss the former Minister and present Member of Parliament participated and delivered his valuable speech and assured that he will raise the voice of OBC's in the Parliament.
